RLC to hold E-Waste Disposal event

Residents who have been storing electronic waste will be able to bring them to an E-Waste Disposal event sponsored by Rend Lake College on Saturday. to 1 p.

Since Jan. During the event, residents are encouraged to bring unwanted electrical items to be disposed of properly and recycled instead of thrown away. Typical items accepted include computer monitors, laptops, servers, TVs, printers, computers, printers, faxes, scanners, DVD players, VCRs, stereos, video game consoles, peripherals, computer mice, keyboards, PDAs, mobile phones, all computer parts, MP3 players, iPods, music devices, phones, UPS batteries, copiers, typewriters, cash registers, networking equipment, satellite dishes and cable boxes.

Moreover to the E-Waste Disposal, the event will include a Pedal-A-Watt Stationary Bike Power Generator, which participants can take a spin and see how much energy is needed to power everyday household appliances; SIU Professor Ralph Tate will have his converted electric car, a PT Cruiser, and tell how he made the conversion; and Ameren Energy Awareness will have a booth to help people find ways to cut energy use in the house.
