Mitsubishi Electric ties up with NeST for new venture

Mitsubishi Electric Corporation of Japan (Melco) has teamed up with Technopark-based NeST to set up an exclusive development centre here. Melco is a world leader in electrical and electronic equipment while NeST (Network Systems and Technologies) is a Kerala-based provider of specialised software and engineering services. A NeST spokesman said here that Mr Hiroyuki Morikane, Head, Sanda Works, Melco, in Japan, inaugurated the facility at Technopark recently. COMPLEX SOFTWARE It will operate out of the NeST Towers, the modern building inside Technopark, and will cater to the increasing demand for complex software housed in new generation cars. The centre will have an initial capacity for 200 highly qualified and experienced engineers, who will develop advanced, in-vehicle systems that Melco supplies to leading car manufacturers worldwide. "The setting up of this exclusive development centre is a milestone in the relationship between NeST and Melco," Mr N. Jehangir, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director, NeST Group, said. With software requirements for the transportation sector increasing by the day, NeST considers this relationship strategically vital for its ambitious growth plans in engineering and software services, he added. NATURAL CHOICE "With over 1,500 engineers working on cutting-edge technologies in VLSI (very large system integration), hardware design, software and algorithms, NeST is a natural choice for developing complex audio, video and navigation systems for companies such as Melco, said Mr S. Sasi Kumar, President, NeST Software. "We are really excited at the development of this relationship," he added. According to Mr Morikane San, Head, Sanda Works, Melco, the company has been working with NeST for over five years. "We are impressed with the capabilities of NeST engineers and their responsibility to quality and delivery. I am more than happy that an exclusive development centre for Melco is being established within the NeST building," he added.
